Mintaro Oba
Senior Director
Washington, DC
Mintaro Oba is a Senior Director at Bully Pulpit International (BPI) focusing on executive communications for top leaders from CEOs to university presidents.
Prior to joining BPI, Mintaro served in policy and communications roles in the Obama-Biden and Biden-Harris administrations and the International Monetary Fund. In the private sector, he has worked for a small business of tens of people, a tech company of thousands, and now an agency of hundreds. He has managed a range of executive communications and speechwriting teams, most recently as Chief Speechwriter to U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona.
More broadly, Mintaro has shaped strategic and creative messaging at the highest levels, prepared leaders for engagements from high-stakes congressional testimony to high-profile events in Davos, and crafted speeches that have been delivered in venues from the White House to the Vatican and countries from Japan to Zambia.
As a former State Department official, Mintaro has also provided expert commentary on North Korea, South Korea, and broader foreign policy and diplomacy on BBC and CNN and been quoted in The New York Times, The Washington Post, and other media outlets.
Mintaro is a big fan of both cats and puns; he hopes this does not give anyone paws. He lives in Washington, D.C.
