Former Downing Street Director of Communications Guto Harri joins BPI Group as UK Senior Advisor

January 8, 2026

Appointment is first by new BPI UK Lead Matt Carter and continues the growth and expansion of BPI in the UK and Europe

At the start of 2026, Bully Pulpit International (BPI Group) is continuing to expand its UK offering with the appointment of former No. 10 Communications Director Guto Harri CBE. Harri is an experienced BBC journalist and former Chief Political Correspondent, as well as having helped steer communications for media groups including NewsUK and Liberty Global. He also served with Boris Johnson as Spokesman and Chief of Staff during his period as Mayor of London, before joining PM Boris Johnson in Downing Street in 2022 as the No. 10 Director of Communications.

He joins BPI Group as a UK Senior Advisor, supporting clients and business leaders in managing the complex set of issues at the intersection of politics, media, and communications. He will report to Matt Carter, who has been appointed BPI’s UK Market Lead with a brief to drive the growth and expansion of BPI capabilities in the market.

Guto Harri said: “BPI is already delivering creative and dynamic campaigns that help drive change for their clients, and I hope to add my own communications expertise from my time in front-line politics and news media. I’m also excited to be part of a growing global agency that’s ambitious for the future.”

Matt Carter said: “In this moment when organisations face a complex myriad of challenges, they need advisors that really get the policy landscape, the media agenda, and comms capabilities. Guto has worked at the highest level across all three and he is a fantastic addition to our strong and growing UK team.”

Harri’s appointment builds on other significant investments for the group in Europe. Last year BPI announced that Jo-ann Robertson will be joining in 2026 as President of BPI Group in Europe. Robertson was previously a senior global leader at Ketchum, including most recently as their CEO of global markets. The agency has also cemented their position in Europe with the acquisition of three market leading businesses over the last three years — Boldt, Seven Hills, and Message House. It now has a team of 65 consultants based in the UK.
