Michael is UK Chair of Bully Pulpit International (BPI), a global campaigns firm, where he sits on the international leadership team and works with organisations to shape narratives and drive meaningful change.
Previously Michael co-founded the communications and campaigns business Seven Hills, which was acquired by BPI in 2024.
Alongside this, Michael serves as UK Chair of the British Chambers of Commerce, representing businesses across the UK and internationally.
Michael co-authored the Penguin Random House business title Mission – How the Best in Business Break Through and he also hosts the podcast Change Makers which presents fresh ideas and inspirational life stories from people with a passion – the campaigners, creators, connectors and contrarians – making a difference.
Today he is an Honorary Professor In Practice at both the University of London and Nottingham Business School. His academic work focuses on the intersection of profit and purpose, championing socially motivated businesses as a catalyst for UK prosperity.
Earlier in his career he co-founded StartUp Britain, the national campaign for early-stage enterprise which was fully supported by HM Government.
Michael was awarded an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) for services to enterprise promotion, entrepreneurship and education. He is also a Deputy Lieutenant in the County of Surrey.
