Caitlin Callaghan

Caitlin Callaghan is a Managing Director at Bully Pulpit International (BPI), where she leads strategic and executive communications engagements for a range of corporate, start-up, and non-profit clients.

With deep experience in the private and public sectors, Caitlin brings to her work a dedication to partnership with executives and their teams, and strong counsel on messaging development and execution. Before joining BPI, she led the executive communications strategies in-house at both the Mellon Foundation and the University of California Office of the President, where she served as lead speechwriter and built out the executive communications teams. For four years Caitlin also ran her own speechwriting and strategic communications practice, working with several institutional clients on multi-year engagements. She loves collaborating as a strategist, writer, and intellectual sparring partner with colleagues across the public affairs and communications fields, and throughout her career has written hundreds of speeches.

As a ghostwriter, Caitlin has drafted cover pieces for publications ranging from National Geographic to the New York Times Book Review, and contributions for outlets such as the Los Angeles Times, the San Francisco Chronicle, Outside, and TIME.com. Caitlin has developed major keynotes including university commencement addresses at Yale and Stanford; speeches delivered at the National Academy of Sciences, the Oxford Union, and the Commonwealth Club; and discussion frameworks for appearances at national forums and speaking tours, including Washington Post Live, the New Yorker Festival, and Michelle Obama’s The Light We Carry tour.

Caitlin is a graduate of Stanford University (B.A.), the University of Oxford (M.St.), and Cornell University (Ph.D.), and began her career after earning her doctorate in Medieval Studies. She lives with her family in the same neighborhood in San Francisco, CA, where she grew up.
