Ann Marie Habershaw was a partner and the COO of BPI until her passing in 2018. She helped us ‘grow up’ and somewhat professionalize the agency during our formative years. For more memories, please visit and share at www.AMHsays.com.
Prior to joining BPI, she served as the Chief of Staff and Director of External Affairs at the U.S. Office of Personnel Management and previously served as the COO of Obama for America, where she built nationwide infrastructure to align with the national campaign plan. In this role, she oversaw all aspects of campaign operations, which included a $1 billion budget, the establishment of hundreds of offices nationwide, IT infrastructure, and the human resources program for over 4,000 staff members. She also ensured that the infrastructure and resources matched the grassroots campaign focus on organizing, technology and digital strategy.
Ann Marie also served as the COO of the Democratic National Committee (DNC), and as the CFO and subsequently the COO of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC). At both organizations, she thoroughly assessed existing organizational structure and led strategic process and change initiatives to overhaul all committee operations. This ensured that committee resources were aligned with the key initiatives such as fundraising, digital presence and national field efforts.
Her passion for operations took off at EMILY's List, where she was Director of Finance and Administration and found her niche helping mission-driven organizations make sure that the resources of organizations, both people and dollars, move as one with their values and goals. Her private sector experience included serving as the COO of M+R Strategic Services as well as several years of practice in the accounting field and as a controller for various private businesses specializing in retail and direct marketing. Ann Marie had a M.B.A. from UNC Chapel Hill.
