Brian McGuigan is a Managing Director at Bully Pulpit International (BPI), where he advises clients on communications, marketing, and public affairs. With experience in senior leadership positions in startups and public companies, he has a proven track record of building successful brands and teams while effectively managing complex crises and challenges.
Brian's previous roles saw him make impressive contributions to the growth of two unicorn companies. As Head of Communications at Pacaso, he was instrumental in the company's expansion to 40 communities across four countries through PR and marketing initiatives that introduced the co-ownership model to second home buyers, owners, and communities. As Director of Public Affairs at Lyft, Brian led winning advocacy campaigns resulting in the passage of 45 state laws that regulated ridesharing, enabling the company to expand from 16 cities to all 50 states in just four years.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, he ran corporate communications and public policy for Whole Foods Market and helped the grocer navigate complex operational and business challenges affecting its customers and hundreds of thousands of team members across 500 stores.
Earlier in his career, Brian worked at Joe Trippi & Associates, where he counseled candidates and causes on communications strategy; the British Embassy in Washington DC, where he modernized the Embassy's communications practice; and Obama for America, where he contributed to voter registration and turnout initiatives focused on college students ahead of primary elections in New Hampshire in 2008.
Brian is a graduate of Saint Mary’s College of California and resides in Marin County, CA, with his wife and son.
